Larry Hogan is the current governor of Maryland. He was born and raised in Maryland and attended Catholic school his entire life. Later, he moved to Florida, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in government from Florida State University in Daytona Beach.

Gov. Hogan has not been involved in politics his whole life. He started his career in real estate and then moved to starting a small business which focused on improving economic development in Maryland.

Gov. Hogan has alway been interested in politics. His father, Congressmen Larry Hogan, Sr. was a member of the House of Judiciary Committee during the Nixon administration. Gov. Hogan decided to run for office because he was tired of taxes and the current divided state of politics.

Gov. Hogan was sworn in as the 62nd Governor of Maryland on January 21, 2015. He was only the second republican governor elected in over 50 years. He started his work in office immediately and strived to achieve bipartisan.

While in office, Gov. Hogan focused greatly in improving the economic status of Maryland. He also had a strong passion towards Maryland education. Gov. Hogan believes that all children deserve to have a proper education, regardless of where they live.

One of the biggest issues Gov. Hogan faced in office was the coronavirus pandemic. Gov. Hogan quickly shut down schools and released mandates to keep the state of Maryland safe. Gov. Hogan also supplied the state with 500,000 COVID-19 tests from South Korea. These test aided the state greatly and his accomplishment was recognized nationwide.

Governor Hogan was reelected in 2018. He is only the second governor to be reelected in the state of Maryland in 242 years. Gov. Hogan resides in the Governors Mansion in Annapolis. He lives with his wife, Yumi, and his three daughters, Julie, Jaymi and Kim.
